Top 10 Hacks to Chill Beer

1. Fire Extinguisher

Do you want ice cold beer fast? How about in under 30 seconds?

Blasting it with a fire extinguisher will certainly get it icy cold. However, you can’t just use any old fire extinguisher lying around. It has to be a carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguisher, no a monoammonium phosphate version.

The CO2 extinguisher works by starving a fire of oxygen which also creates an overabundance of carbon dioxide. This excess of CO2 makes things very chilly.

To use this hack:

Put your beer in a bucket to keep it stable. Pull the pin on the fire extinguisher and spray your beer at short one or two-second blasts. Repeat this for 20 or 30 seconds for the CO2 in the fire extinguisher to chill your beer.

2. Can of Compressed Air

Don’t have a carbon dioxide extinguisher or don’t want to invest in one? No problem!

A can of compressed air can get your beer chilled in about 60 seconds. And many of us already have one of these cheap cans lying around.

To use this hack:

Simply take your can of compressed air and hold it upside down and as close to your beer can or bottle as possible. Be sure to use the air straw that comes with it.

Spray for 60 seconds or until you see frost forming.

Holding the compressed air can upside down is key because it makes the air that comes out extra cold.

3. Salt Water and Ice

Got a bit more time to spare and/or don’t want to mess around with any fancy gadgets to get your beer cold?

A classic method for how to cool beer quickly is to use salt water and ice.

To use this hack:

Grab a large bowl or bucket and fill it with water. Add your beer and sprinkle salt over everything.

The salt will lower the water’s freezing temperature. This causes the ice to melt and chill the water further. In turn, this chills your beer at a much quicker rate.

You’ll have a cold beer in about 15 minutes using this hack.
