No matter where you live or what your profession is, your home should be a personal sanctuary.

When you step through the door at the end of a long day, the environment you walk into should reduce your level of stress, not add to it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of little things inside our homes that can frustrate us on a daily basis or cause chores to take longer than they have to. For some of us, our houses stop being a place where we can get away from it all to one where things are getting in our way.

As your trusty companion, I’m here to help you get more enjoyment out of your home life by showing you some of the top cheap products that can bring you more enjoyment.

Let’s jump right in!

Espresso machine

Are you a coffee drinker? If so, you should think about investing in an espresso machine.

Espresso tastes so much better than regular coffee out of the pot and you can craft a variety of different drinks too. With a simple machine, you can concoct cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos and any other of your favorite coffee beverages.

Plus, owning your own machine means you can spend less money at your local coffee shop.

Look here for the best cheap espresso machine with the best features. It has several drink sizes, an onboard milk frother, and can make a variety of drinks. All at the touch of a few buttons!

Dehumidifier

Do you know what the relative humidity is inside your home?

If not, you may be in for some serious trouble.

The ideal relative humidity indoors should be between 35 to 50%. If it’s too high, you could experience any of these unpleasant circumstances:

  • Hot air
  • Mugginess
  • Condensation on the windows
  • Increase in mold, mildew, fungi, bacteria, and viruses
  • Rise in allergy or asthma-related symptoms
  • Wood Rot
  • Furniture deterioration
  • Rusty appliances

The best thing to do is purchase a cheap hygrometer. This instrument measures the level of moisture in the air and can alert you if it’s too high. A good one can often be picked up for $8 or less online.

If your home does have high humidity, you should take the necessary steps to reduce it. Otherwise, you may experience one or more of the problems listed above. The best thing to do here is to buy a cheap dehumidifier to suck the moisture out of the air.

If the humidity levels are high in only one or two rooms of the home, you can get by with a small or mini dehumidifier. There’s no need to buy an expensive device that’s more powerful for the room than need be.

My recent review guide shows you what the cheapest dehumidifier with the best features is so you don’t have to waste time comparing too many products.

Smart thermostat

Keeping the temperature inside your home at a comfortable level can a be a real pain. This is especially true if you live in an area that experiences all four seasons.

A simple way to cut down on the daily struggle of adjusting your heating and air conditioning system is to install a smart thermostat.

Smart thermostats connect to your mobile device and allow you to control all of the settings on your HVAC system without having to touch the wall unit.

Another really nice feature of the top rated smart thermostat I’ve tried is that it also has a geofencing function. What this does is allow you to set up the thermostat to make automatic adjustments depending on your location. For example, if you leave the home on a hot day, your air conditioner will turn off. Then, when you’re within a specified radius of your home, the AC unit will kick back on so it’s nice and cool by the time you arrive.

Portable electric fireplace

How would you like to save more money over the winter but still feel warm and cozy inside?

If this sounds nice to you, you’ll be happy to know that an electric fireplace heater can give you all that and more.

Portable electric fireplaces are inexpensive devices that do an excellent job of heating up a room. Plus, they’re easy on your energy bill. You can heat an entire space for a fraction of what it costs to run your home heating system.

Portable fireplaces are also quite luxurious these days too. Some of the cheapest models even have realistic burning logs. You can check out the best electric fireplace heater here and see for yourself how nice they look.

Massage recliner

After a hard day at work or running your weekly errands, nothing feels more relaxing than getting a full body massage.

But who can afford to pay a masseuse each week for that type of experience?

I certainly can’t, and that’s why I invested in a cheap home massage recliner. These comfy chairs have a vibrating feature that massages your body from head to toe and they don’t stick out like a sore thumb either.

In fact, most massage chairs look just like any other chair you’d buy for your living room or basement. The best massage recliners I’ve found are made out of leather, can swivel 360-degrees, has a heated seat, and a remote. The next best chair includes an ottoman for a footrest and microsuede material that’s excellent at resisting stains.

Memory foam mattress pad

Have you ever slept on a memory foam mattress before?

If not, you don’t know what you’re missing!

Memory foam is considered the best, most relaxing, sleep-inducing material known to man. If you have trouble sleeping at night or wake up feeling sore, a memory foam mattress may solve all of your problems.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to buy a brand new memory foam mattress. They’re quite expensive!

A cheaper alternative is to buy a memory foam pad. This pad lays on top of your current mattress and gives you the feeling of memory foam for a fraction of the cost.

Memory foam pads come in a variety of thicknesses and additional features to make your rest more comfortable. The best memory foam mattress pads I’ve found are infused with a gel substance and has ventilation holes to make it really cool to sleep on at night. It’s also 4 inches thick and helps me fall asleep much faster (and stay that way) than my old mattress ever did.

Electronic pest control

Does your home ever get infested with mice, ants, spiders, or other insects?

If so, you don’t have to resort to toxic pest control chemicals in order to get rid of them for good.

A safe, cheaper alternative, is to use an electronic pest control device. These small units plug into your power outlet and emit a frequency of sounds that rodents and insects don’t like.

This unpleasant sound drives pests out of your home and keeps them from coming back.

If you’d like to have a pest-free home this year, check out my guide on the best electronic pest control devices for the cheapest prices.

Rain shower head

If you’re not loving your shower experience every morning, then you probably don’t own a rain shower head.

Rain shower heads can turn even the most boring bathroom into a luxurious experience. This inexpensive upgrade is easy to install too. All it takes is for you to unscrew your old shower head and screw on the new rain head version.

Rain shower heads come at all price points, but I’ve found that some of the best ones are not that expensive. In fact, the best rain shower head combo is less than $35. So take a look!

Robot vacuum cleaner

Do you hate vacuuming as much as I do?

If so, a robot vacuum cleaner will become your new best friend around the house.

This intuitive device can clean your whole home without you having to lift a finger. A good schedule to follow is to set it up to run while you’re at work or out running errands. Then when you get home the house will be spotless and you won’t have to worry about getting in its way.

If this sounds good to you, you’ll love my post on the best budget robot vacuum cleaner models.

Touchless trash can

My final recommendation for a cheap home item that can reduce your levels of stress and make home life a lot more pleasant is a touchless trash can.

With this handy appliance, you’ll never have to touch a dirty trash lid ever again.

All you do is walk up to it, wave your hand, and voila, the lid magically opens.

Like all of the other products mentioned on this page, I have a handy guide for this item too. Here, you can find my best touchless trash can reviews.

Cordless lawn mower

When it comes to mowing your lawn, a gas-powered mower can be quite a headache.

Not only do these machines have to be maintained and serviced regularly to keep them running smoothly, but the cost of gasoline for a summer’s worth of work can really add up.

A cheaper, more environmentally friendly option is to use a cordless electric lawn mower. These machines cut just as good (if not better) than gas mowers and don’t require all of the maintenance upkeep.

Consider getting the best cordless lawn mower on this list if you’re ready for an upgrade.

In addition, if you have a sprinkler system installed in your home to keep your lawn watered on a schedule, you may want to consider upgrading the unit to a smart Wi-Fi enabled version.

A smart sprinkler controller lets you adjust all of the settings of your irrigation system from a smartphone or tablet. I review the best smart sprinkler controller here, along with four other top competitors.

I hope you enjoyed this list useful home gadgets! Feel free to check them out and decide which one(s) you think will make your life a lot simpler around the house.
